Vasily Galaktionov

The artist delved into animation in 2016, adopting the labor-intensive cutout animation technique. This method involves capturing paper figures frame by frame and animating them digitally. Vasily's artwork exudes a distinct charm, with some finding it psychedelic, while others perceive it as a revelation in visual art. Each animation, coupled with its accompanying music, demands about a month of dedicated effort. In 2018, Vasily created a music video for "Kholod," a song by the local band 119 Podval. You can find his animated works on his YouTube channel. Among his most notable projects is "Underdog," inspired by Vasily Allenov's eponymous short story. The artist finds inspiration in the surrounding reality. As he puts it, "My creations' themes are self-selected; they must touch me in the present, and what goes unnoticed yesterday or tomorrow may not catch my attention."
