
Vasily is a novelist, editor, and researcher, and a member of the Union of Journalists of Russia. His works have been published in magazines such as "Novy Mir," "Druzhba Narodov," and "Znamya." He has written more than 16 books, many of which have been shortlisted for numerous awards. His book "Krasnoye Nebo" was long-listed for the Bolshaya Kniga and Yasnaya Polyana literarry awards. He is the author of the Total Dictation in 2023. He has been a finalist for literary awards such as Bolshaya Kniga, Natsionalnyi Bestseller, NOS, and the Bunin Prize. He is a laureate of the all-Russian Literary Prize “Far East” named after. V. K. Arsenyev. Primarily, Vasily writes in the genre of documentary lyrical prose. In his works, he reflects on and seeks answers to questions about what the Far East is, how it became a part of Russia, its significance to the country, who the people of the Far East are, and the purpose of human life. He travels extensively across the Far East, gathering historical and ethnographic materials about his native region. He was a co-author of the book "Vladivostok-3000" together with the legendary Ilya Lagutenko. In his social media accounts, he actively shares historical sketches and stories based on various literary sources. In 2019, his book "Pravy Rul" ranked the third in internet sales of works by Russian authors in Japan, with only "The Brothers Karamazov" and "Crime and Punishment" ahead. In the same year, the Governor of Primorsky Krai awarded him the prize for "Contribution to the Development of Contemporary Culture in the Far East."
