Fashion Yurodivy, born in Vladivostok in 2015, started as a project where participants dressed themselves and their friends with discarded clothing. Eventually, they set up a profile on social media. Over time, it evolved into a fully established movement, fostering a close-knit community that organized events, parties, photoshoots, fashion shows, exhibitions, and workshops. The project's growth received a boost in 2017 when it secured the "Youth Initiative" grant from the Vladivostok Administration, leading to the installation of art objects, clothing collection containers, in various locations across the city. One eye-catching example was a container crafted from an old washing machine, beautifully painted by talented young artists from Vladivostok, and exhibited at Artetazh gallery in 2018. Another success followed in 2019 when clothing donation containers were showcased at the renowned Cosmoscow International Contemporary Art Fair.
As the Fashion Yurodivy ideas resonated with society, the movement's impact expanded into the socio-commercial sphere in both Vladivostok and Khabarovsk. The movement's founders and participants continue to explore new horizons, achieve progress in promoting subcultural ideas. Through object-based art, they passionately address relevant themes and lifestyles, breathing life into the creative spirit of the region. They passionately reinterpret textiles and household items, create musical installations from found materials, and use innovative art and design solutions to revitalize spaces, including small theatrical stages.
