
Producer and Director of High Latitudes LTD. Member of the Guild of Russian Film Directors, the Russian Academy of Cinema Arts and Science, laureate of Russian and international film festivals. As a researcher at the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Alexey's creative focus centers on exploring the destinies of northern peoples. Alexei is the organizer and leader of several expeditionary film projects in the North-East and deep within the Chukotka Peninsula. His films have been honored with prestigious national awards such as the Nika Award, Laurel Branch Award, The White Elephant Award, Arctic Awards, Man and the Sea Award, among others.
"The Tundra Book: A Tale of Vukvukai, the Little Rock" is considered a film "worthy of state preservation" according to the Russian State Film and Photo Archive. In 2018, he presented "The Book of the Sea," a five-year project combining animation and documentary cinema, highlighting the endangered language of the Naukan Eskimos, spoken by only about 20 people today. The screening of the film took place at the 61st International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film DOK Leipzig, as well as the Russian Film Week in London and numerous festivals in Russia and around the world. Over time, the film has evolved into an eponymous exhibition project, where Alexey leads guided tours through the exposition.
